Ebonyi university expels 5, others suspended


David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Ebonyi state, Friday, said it has expelled two students for examination misconduct.
The school management also said it has withdrawn three students from the institution for poor academic performances, while 11 others were suspended for various offenses.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof.Jesse Uneke, disclosed this during the 4th matriculation of the institution at Uburu, Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi state.
He noted that 990 students matriculated in the school on Saturday.
Uneke further stated that the institution has treated 200 cancer patients, from various parts of the country.
Uneke said, “The University cancer center is fully operational and has treated 200 cancer patients coming from various parts of Nigeria as of December 2024. The services have been expanded in 2024 to include chemotherapy. The official flag-off of the center will take place on March 8, 2025.
“This university maintains very strict discipline, the school rules and regulations are unforgiven when they are violated.
“Between the last matriculation and the present, the Senate of the University approved disciplinary actions on a total of 14 students depending on the magnitude of their offence. Of these, two students were expelled due yo examination misconduct.
“Three students received one year suspension for stealing, five students received one semester suspension for stealing, three students were withdrawn as a result of poor academic performance”.
