One person has been reported missing and 8 others injured in the recent land dispute between the people of Ezeke-Amasiri and Amata-Akpoha land dispute in Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi state.

This was made kwown to The Voice by the council boss, Hon Barr Oby Oko Enyim who Condemned the brutal attack on Amata-Akpoha people and directed Security Agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the dastardly act to serve as deterrent to others.

Barr. Oby Oko Enyim who convened an emergency Peace and Security meeting at the Council Hall,Afikpo to address the issue with a view of nipping further escalation of the conflict in the bud, appealed to the two Communities to sustain the spirit of brotherhood that has existed between them from generation to generation.

She called on the people of the Area to desist from taking laws into their hands no matter the provocation as Government, Security Agencies and other Stakeholders in the administration of Justice will always ensure that Justice is not only done but seen to have been done.

The Council Boss also directed that henceforth nobody should enter the disputed land for any reason till the matter is amicably resolved and further called on Community Leaders on both sides to join hands with her administration to ensure peaceful settlement of the disputed land.

On their part, the Coordinaors of Amasiri Development Centre, Hon(Mrs) Ngozichika Ezeugo and her Amoha Counterpart, Surveyor Theodore Chikwendu Ihite applauded the Council Chairman for her quick intervention in the matter and implored their people to embrace peace for sustainable development in the Area.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Livinus Nwenyim who narrated the efforts of the police in conjunction with SSS to bring peace to the two Communities, assured that the perpetrators of the act must be arrested and made to face the full weight of the Law, adding that his men will maintain 24hours patrol/surveillance on the disputed land in line with the directive of the Council Chairman

Some of the Stakeholders who spoke including Prof John Igidi,Elder David Egwu and Chief Geofrey Oko assured the Council Chairman of their continued cooperation and commitment for Peace to thrive in their respective areas.
