The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, arrived in Ebonyi State for the party’s presidential campaign flag-off.
He arrived in the South East state in the company of his running mate, Kashim Shettima, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, and some members of the Presidential Campaign Council.
Tinubu was received by Governor David Umahi, members of the State Executive Council, State and National Assembly members, traditional rulers, party faithful, and supporters of the state.
Upon his arrival on Wednesday night, the former governor of Lagos State commissioned the new Government House dualists road built by the Umahi administration.
Speaking during the inauguration, Tinubu hailed Umahi for the laudable achievements he has recorded despite the lean resources of the State.
He said the people of the state are known for their determination, courage, and independence of mind which enable them to achieve great feats wherever they find themselves.
He said: “Umahi is an accomplished leader who has built others. He has done well. It is a joy to be here to witness progress and development”
“I know the people of Ebonyi for their determination, courage, and independent of mind to do good things and I have seen many signs of the developmental strides of this administration as I was coming in.”
The APC presidential candidate also held a meeting with monarchs and stakeholders who pledged their readiness to ensure he garners landslide victory in the state come 2023.
Governor David Umahi applauded the APC Presidential Candidate and President Muhammadu Buhari for their support of Ebonyi State.
He reiterated the resolve of his administration to continue to deliver the goods to the people until he successfully anchors the ship till May 2023.
“Mr President, we have performed, we have done very well here, and we have discharged. Everywhere in Ebonyi State, our presence is felt. Anybody who wants to challenge us should tell us if we have not fared better under APC Government.”, he said.
Governor Umahi said the people of the state would continue to be obedient to Tinubu and APC.
The Monarchs also conferred on Tinubu a Chieftaincy title of ‘Dike Dị Ọra Nma’ of Ebonyi State ( Hero loved by the people)
They said the title was to buttress Tinubu’s acceptability by the generality of the people of the State, including the traditional institution.
