2023: Former Minister, Nwankwo, joins governorship Race in Ebonyi

The former Minister of state for Health, Engr. Fidelis Nwankwo, Tuesday, declared to run for governor under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi state.
Nwankwo, while addressing stakeholders and supporters during his official declaration held at his campaign office, Kilometer 2 Abakaliki-Ogoja Express Way opposite CPS, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, noted that if elected governor in 2023, his administration will focus on four (4) point programmes; “functional education, job creation and youth empowerment, Rural infrastructure and due process of governance.
The former Minister, decried the sorry state of the school system in the state and vowed to prioritize and invest in educational development in Ebonyi state.
He however urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, in state to zone the governorship position to Ebonyi North senatorial for the sack equity and fairness.
Nwankwo said: “it is therefore my firm believe that we need to prioritize and invest in education in Ebonyi state to kick-start real development that will involve and impact the people and sustained to the foreseeable future.
Speaking on job creation and youth empowerment, Nwankwo said “the current unemployment ratio of 35 percent in Nigeria today is scandalous and therefore unacceptable
On rural infrastructure:” The former Minister who hails from Ebonyi North senatorial zone noted further that “ My government will purse with aggression youth employment in both formal and informal sector with emphasis on filling quotas if Ebonyi state share of positions at the federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
He also said that “My government will revisit the issue of all those whose properties including shops at Abakpa market and building and other parts of the state were destroyed with a view to replacing them or paying them compensation” he stressed
