The Candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, (NNPP) in Ebonyi State, Prophet Adol-Awam Chris has promised to grant full autonomy to the 13 local government areas in the State if elected.
Adol-Awam, who is the General Overseer of the Eternal Light of World Christian Church, made this known while speaking to newsmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
He promised to revive the local government system and make it viable and functional for the people.
The Cleric stated that the State government has failed to grant financial autonomy to the local government following their selfish interest.
He maintained that he has come to liberate not just the local government from bondage, but to liberate the State as well from political, economic and social bondage.
He described the present administration as government of the ‘Umunna'( meaning kindred) for the ‘Umunna’, by the ‘Umunna’, which according to him the system has crippled the State.
‘I want to liberate the local government administration, they will be the one to manage their funds to enable activities in the local government areas,’ he maintained.
Unveiling his campaign manifesto tagged ‘God’s Project 2023’ the one time ALGON chairman and Council chair of Ebonyi LGA, stated that his administration will focus on industrialization to create employment opportunities for the people thereby reducing the rate of insecurity in the State.
Stating “the State has lots of resources that has not been harnessed, my government will create enabling environment for investors and not create unnecessary tax to discourage them. With industries in the State there will be employment , peace and security.” He noted.
He maintained that his administration will also focus on moral training, training the people to believe in themselves and have the fear of God.
The guber candidate promised Ebonyi workers of fruitful days ahead, stating that promotion, payment of pension and gratuity will be implemented as at when due. While assuring them that their days of weeping are over, as God has sent him to redeem the workers.
Prophet Adol-Awam however, decried the alleged rise in debt profile of Ebonyi State and vowed to offset all internal and external debt and will boast the state Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, through mining and other sources, if elected governor of Ebonyi State, come 2023.
“The State is crippled with debt, but I have a plan, that plan is to look for another source of funding that will generate income and offset the debts. After my tenure , this State will be debt free , no debt will be inherited by my successor.” He disclosed.
