The Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Barr. Oby Oko Enyim has sued for the combined efforts between her administration and Community Leaders to tackle insecurity in the Area.

Barr. Oby made this known in her office  during the week at a Security Meeting with the Leadership of Essa – Amasiri Ruling Council at Afikpo.

The Council Boss who identified Community Leaders as critical stakeholders in Conflict Resolution and Nation- Building enjoined members of Essa Amasiri Ruling Council to join hands with the Government of Engr. David Nweze Umahi to ensure peaceful co- existence of residents in the component villages in Afikpo North.

She described Governor David Umahi as an exceptional Leader with zero tolerance for insecurity and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to peace among individuals and groups for rapid development of the Society.

She therefore implored all relevant stakeholders and socio-cultural groups in the Local Government Area to imbibe the Spirit of brotherhood and work harmoniously with one another in order to ensure peace and tranquility in their areas of abode.

Barr. Oby who also stated that the protection of lives and properly of the people of Afikpo North was not negotiable, vowed to decisively nip in the bud any threat to peace and security by proactive means.

Speaking, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Afikpo Division, CSP Livinus Nwenyim who commended the Council Chairman for her proactivenes to issues of Security, pledged the readiness of the Police and other sister Agencies in Afikpo North Local Government Area to collaborate with her as the Chief Security Officer of the LGA to achieve huge success in the maintainance of law and order, peace and security.

On his part, the Chairman of Essa-Amasiri Ruling Council, Apostle Elekwa appreciated the Council Chairman for convening the Security meeting and assured her that they will liaise with other relevant Groups and Individuals in Amasiri to ensure peace at all times in all the Community’s Component Units.

The security meeting was primarily convened to address the perceived “cold war” between the Essa Amasiri Ruling Council and the Uke-Ogo.
