In a unified stand against violence, the indigenous peoples of Anambra state residing in Ebonyi have joined Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi state in condemning the recent killings of innocent Ebonyi residents in Anambra state.
A statement released by leaders of the Anambra community in Ebonyi, including Lady Rose Ezeadikwa, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Urban Women Mobilization, and Chief Okoye Augustine, President of the Ebonyi State Landlords Association, outlined their collective outrage over the tragic events that unfolded in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area.
The statement, which also saw contributions from notable figures such as Chief JC Okpala, Grand Patron of the Ebonyi State Landlords Association, and Pharmacists Anene Chukwuemeka Jude, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and emphasized the sanctity of human existence.
“We condemn in totality such inhumane acts,” the leaders asserted. “Life is sacred and nobody has any right to take it.” They highlighted the importance of justice, assuring that they believe in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the incident and ensuring that the culprits are brought to justice.
The statement continued, “We have every hope that the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, will carry out a thorough investigation and bring to book the perpetrators of this deadly act.”
Additionally, the leaders extended their condolences to the affected families, expressing solidarity during this sorrowful time, and prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls lost in the tragedy.
This call for accountability reflects a growing concern among communities in the region, as they seek to foster peace and security for every citizen, regardless of their state of origin.
