The Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, has postponed the burial ceremony of his step-mother following state government’s recent ban on any large gatherings in Ebonyi.
Recall that last Monday, Ebonyi state Governor, Engr. David Umahi, announced the state’s decision to ban weddings, burial ceremonies, conferences, seminars and any other large gatherings to avoid spread of the deadly coronavirus disease.
In compliance with this, Dr Ugbala through Dr. Chike Onwe who is in charge of publicity, announced the postponment of the burial ceremony slated for March 26-27, 2020.
Although, new date is yet to be fixed for the burial ceremony, but all subcommittees have been directed to wait for further information.
The release reads: “The Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr. Kenneth Igwe Ugbala, has informed his friends/committee that the burial of his stepmother earlier scheduled for this weekend, March 26-27, 2020 has been postponed.
“This shift is in compliance with the government’s directive on crowd control and social distancing as part of measures to forestall the spread of COVID-19 pandemic currently posing serious threat to the society.
“Consequently, all subcommittees are required to put on hold all arrangements towards the burial. However, we shall commence actions on the various mandates as soon as a new date is announced”.
