Barber stabs motorcyclist to death in Bayelsa

A barber, Lucky Diri, has been arrested by the police in Bayelsa State for allegedly stabbing a motorcycle rider, Emeka Udo, to death.

The incident happened at Sagbama town, headquarters of the Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, said the suspect attacked the victim with a screwdriver after a misunderstanding.

The statement read, “A barber, Lucky Diri, 20, allegedly stabbed one Emeka Christian Udo, 38, a motorcycle rider, with a screwdriver in his left ribs, over a minor misunderstanding.

“The injured victim was immediately rushed to the Sagbama General Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

“The suspect has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department for further interrogation.”

The police spokesman said the state Commissioner of Police, Ben Okolo, had ordered an investigation into the incident with a view to prosecuting the suspect.
