The Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Nweze Umahi today October 19 announced that the state institution, Ebonyi state University will resume on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020.
This was done during his address to the postesters who blocked old government house on End Sars and end police brutality.
He made this known while fielding questions from the End Sars protesters about the prolonged ASUU strike which has been embarked on by institutions across the country for seven months.
Gov. Umahi warned that any lecturer who failed to resume work would be dismissed. Thus he ordered the state university to resume on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020.


Recall that the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ebonyi state chapter has issued a statement on its proposed planned peaceful demostration over the prolonged industrial Action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the country, slated for Tuesday October 20th, 2020.

The statement addresed to the Ebonyi state Commissioner of police, CP Philip maku was signed by the South East and South South director of special duties, (NANS Zone B), Comrade Nwuruku Olisa Alfred.

Comr. Alfred revealed that the peaceful rally which which will commence from the main gate of CAS campus Ebonyi State University aimed at making demands on the federal government of Nigeria to renegotiate with members of ASUU towards a possible adjustment of the decisions that has led to the halt in academic activities in institution of higher education in the country for over seven months, which has negatively affected the Nigerian students,

However, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige has disclosed that the ongoing ASUU strike may be called off soon.
