As the battle for who will be the next Governor of Ebonyi State intensifies, gubernatorial candidate on the platform of Young Progressive Party (YPP), Engr. Opoke Sunday has stated that when he emerges governor he will cut down the cost of governance.

He made this known while briefing the press in Abakaliki.

He lamented on the high cost of governance in the State, adding that there is a need to reduce the rate of spending by officials of government and invest same in rural development.

Engr. Opoke maintained that he is committed in giving Ebonyians dividends of democracy, saying that his 7-point agenda is directed towards human capital development.

Adding “When I get into governance I will cut down the cost of governance and use it for investment in rural areas.

“One of the strategic point agenda is Urban/Rural migration, when I emerge, whatever that is done in the capital city will be done in the rural areas.

“It is so crazy that in this part of the world, commissioner for health cannot go to public hospital for treatment, or commissioner for education take his child to a public school.

“When we see all these, you know that we need to do something new.” He stated.
He further explained that human capital development will be the major focus in his administration.

The guber candidate while outlining his 7-point agenda, said gospel revolution would be the first in his agenda, having seen that in the past, politics and religion are interwoven, and remains the basis for human existence.

Adding “my agenda in that aspect, is to bring God back to His people and His people back to Him, because He is light, and when you walk under the light, you will certainly excel.

“Other areas that needs to be looked into is wealth creation.The remaining 6 point agenda dwells majorly on wealth creation.”

He decried the collapse of the Civil Service in the State, and revealed that when elected he will revive the system by providing enabling environment for workers to strive , hence increasing workers’ productivity in the State.
