Ebonyi APC Lambasts PDP,  Says ‘it’s foolishness to Demand Certificate Of Return from INEC’

By Chinwe Imo-Eze Onwosi

Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress Party, (APC)  has described as foolishness the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP’s ) demand for the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to issue certificates of return to nominated replacements of David Umahi and Kelechi Igwe after their sack from the Federal
High Court.

The PDP had nominated Idu Igariwey and Fred Udeogu  to take over as Governor and Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State pending the determination of the Court of Appeal.

The State Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, while briefing press men at the APC State Secretariat, Akanu Ibiam international conference center in Abakaliki Emegha, described PDP’s call for certificate of return as funny and childish.

Emegha said it contradicts the Abakaliki court order which is a judgement in REM on the seat of the state Governor and Deputy.

He cited that the constitution of Nigeria, section 285 (13) of the amended Electoral laws both 2010 and 2022  “already made it clear you cannot benefit or be sue or be used for an election the candidate did not participate in the as candidates. ”

According to him, “Ebonyi PDP is warned to desist from deceiving herself and the general public knowing very well that  the said judgment has since been appealed and notice of appeal and stay of execution served on PDP. ”

The Chairman, accused the PDP for the rising spate of insecurity in the State and said it would ” deal decisively with anyone who leaves his Facebook foolishness in the name of being nominated as candidate and steps the State to further their Crisis.” He said.

He called on Ebonyians to remain calm as the State Government was stable,  expressing confidence in Umahi to reclaim his mandate.
