Ebonyi Family Law Centre Appeals for Government Assistance
*Says it recorded 353 cases in 2024

The Family Law Centre established under the office Ebonyi Governor’s wife, has made a passionate appeal to the state government for assistance to renovate its dilapidated facilities and provide basic amenities.
According to the Chairperson of the centre, Elizabeth Nwali, the facility has become a haven for pests and is in dire need of renovation.
Nwali, who has dedicated 25 years of service to the centre, including using her salary to support its operations, emphasized the importance of government intervention.
The chairman in a chat with THE VOICE, said the centre, which provides critical services for resolving civil and family disputes, requires urgent attention to enable it to function effectively, highlighting the need for basic amenities such as fans, electricity reconnection, and mobility to facilitate movement.
She decried that the centre struggles to cope with the increasing demand for its services maintaining that with the support of the state government, the Centre can continue to provide vital services to the people of Ebonyi State.
“We are appealing to the Governor Nwifuru-led government to come to our aid, We need assistance to renovate our facilities, provide basic amenities, and ensure sustainable funding for our operations.” Nwali said.
Nwali also disclosed the centre’s performance in 2024, stating that it handled a total of 353 cases. Out of these, 273 were resolved, 9 are still in court, 10 were referred to the police, 2 were withdrawn, and 59 are still pending.
She said that the centre handled a wide range of cases, including: Domestic violence, Property disputes, Children’s custody, threat to life, abduction, refund of bride price, forceful ejection, child stealing, ailure to supply necessary (FSN), Conspiracy and Land disputes.
