Ebonyi state government is now seeking for Female applicants who will be engaged in tricycle transportation services.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation and the Acting Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, disclosed this in Abakaliki on Wednesday.
In a release signed by the commissioner, Barrister Uchenna Orji, the initiative was in tune with the government’s determination to enhance poverty reduction.
He said that the state government procured Electric Tricycles for transport services to reduce transportation challenges encountered by civil servants and Ebonyi Vocational College students who frequent the Centenary City.
Stating that applicants for the transport services should be only women, residing in Abakaliki metropolis, between the ages of 18-54, while driving skill will be an added advantage.
Orji further noted that following the purchase of the Electric Tricycles, Governor David Umahi directed that an electric tricycle workshop, electric charging point among others should be set up.
The statement reads: “As part of Ebonyi State Government zero oil initiatives and sheer determination to enhance poverty reduction, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has graciously procured Electric Tricycles for transport services to cushion the transport burdens of the Civil Servants and students of Ebonyi State Vocational College enroute New and Old Government House, and the Centenary City.
“The Governor has also directed the setting up of an electric tricycle workshop, electric charging point and welding team that will dismantle, couple and even fabricate the body of electric tricycles.
“To this end therefore, application from interested and suitably qualified females drivers are required to be submitted to the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, through the office of the SA on Vocational Education, Block 8 Centenary City Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
“To qualify for this economic empowerment programme, applicants are to:
(a) Be between the ages of 18 – 45.
(b) Must be resident within Abakaliki metropolis
(c) The beneficiaries shall operate as service providers only
(d) Equality of Local Government Area shall be considered.
(e)Driving skill is an added advantage.
“All application shall be submitted in two file jackets, containing 2 passport photographs, highest academic qualification, age declaration, Local Government Identification Letter and any other relevant document and not later than 17th February, 2020.
“Note that this application is for female drivers only”.
