Ebonyi Govt Vows to Tackle Rising House Rents in Abakaliki

The Ebonyi State government has promised to address the increasing cost of house rents in Abakaliki metropolis.

Commissioner for Capital City, Sunday Inyima, while interacting with journalist in Abakiliki, acknowledged that housing deficit is a global challenge, and revealed that the Ministry will meet with executives and members of the Landlord Association of the state and other stakeholders.

He stressed the importance of holding a dialogue with stakeholders, particularly landlords and property owners, to establish a fair and reasonable rent rate for various types of housing in Abakaliki, stressing that the dialogue would take into account the current economic situation, ensuring that rent prices are affordable and reflective of the present economic realities.

The commissioner maintained that the state government has made significant strides in addressing the housing deficit, particularly with the development of the new housing estates citing the Izzo Amana housing estate in Ezillo and another estate opposite Chiboy motors as examples of the government’s efforts.

He emphasized that the government is determined to provide affordable housing options for its citizens, and is working tirelessly to achieve this goal.

“With the government’s commitment to addressing the housing challenge, residents of Abakaliki can look forward to a more affordable and habitable living environment.” Inyima stated
