Police in Ebonyi State Arrest Eight Suspects Linked to Fraud, Kidnapping, and Murder Cases

The Police Command in Ebonyi State held a press conference on Tuesday and paraded eight individuals who have been apprehended for various criminal activities including fraud, kidnapping, murder, and cultism. The state Commissioner of Police, Mrs Augustina Ogbodo, disclosed that the suspects were captured in different locations by the command’s operatives.

During the operations, several arms and exhibits were recovered, including three AK47 rifles, an AR-AK gun, a dane gun, a pump-action gun, 12 live AK47 ammunition, 11 live AR-AK ammunition, a ram, five tortoises, a live kite, and two Lexus cars (EX330 and EX350). Other items seized by the police include a Toyota Highlander jeep, a Sumac generator, a motorcycle, and various criminal charms.

One of the suspects, Maxwell Odom, aged 27, was arrested for defrauding a man of N26.25 million by falsely promising to sell him some plots of land. Odom also defrauded another individual of N3.3 million under the pretense of selling them a plot of land. The police also apprehended three individuals, Itumo Samuel, Monday Nweke, and Jeremiah Adindu, who are believed to be involved in arson cases.

Furthermore, the police arrested Tochukwu Nwambam in Onu-Ebonyi, located in the Izzi Local Government area, on suspicion of being a terrorist. On May 11, the operatives accosted Nwambam, a 32-year-old suspect, in Onu-Ebonyi. Further investigations are being conducted to determine his alleged involvement in terrorist activities.

The Ebonyi State Police Command assured the public that they are committed to ensuring that criminals are apprehended and brought to justice.
