Ebonyi Police parades Ex-Air force personnel, 35 others for alleged murder, abduction

The Ebonyi State Police Command, on Tuesday, paraded an Ex- Nigerian Air Force marshal, Mr Obaji Benjamin, and 35 other suspects for alleged murder, fabrication and possession of illegal firearms among other heinous crimes.

The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, CP Aliyu Garba, during the parade of the suspects that took place at the command headquarters told journalists that suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB/ESN were also arrested.

CP Aliyu said the suspected IPOB /ESN members were brought in for their alleged involvement in the murder of seven innocent persons who hail from Ohaozara and Onicha LGAs and setting their cars ablaze during the sit-at-home order on Monday.

“One suspect, Obaji Benjamin, who claimed to be an ex-Nigeria Air force personnel, confessed to be a manufacturer of locally made rifles and equally claimed that he inherited the talent from his late father, who was a blacksmith,” he said.

Others arrested include; Nwankwo Friday ‘m’ 37 years and Eze Desmond ‘m’ 35 years was also for involvement in the manufacturing of a locally made AK-47 rifles and six expanded shells of barretta pistol, among other ammunitions.

He said: “We also paraded 35 suspects who were arrested for different offences/recovery of 24 rifles with over 1000 animations/rescue of four (4) abducted little girls who was trafficked to Ghana for prostitution,” he noted.
