EBOTRANS Organizes Medical Outreach, Road Safety Training for Drivers

The General Manager of the Ebonyi State Transport Corporation (EBOTRANS), Mrs. Nnenna Igwe, has demonstrated the commitment of the Governor Nwifuru led government towards the health and safety of drivers under her purview.
Mrs Igwe who flagged off the medical check-up and training of EBOTRANS drivers at the headquarters in Abakaliki, Monday, stated that the initiative was designed to ensure that drivers receive regular health checks and training on essential road safety tips to avert any accident.

She applauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his people-oriented Charter of Needs, which prioritizes health and well-being
According to her: “this initiative aligns with the Governor’s vision, demonstrating EBOTRANS’ commitment to supporting the health and safety of its staff.” Igwe stated.

The Medical professionals drawn from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital conducted thorough health checks, including blood pressure tests, sugar level screenings, eye exams, and hepatitis A and B tests on the drivers.
While delivering his lecture on road safety tips, the Route Commander of Federal Road Safety, Ebonyi State, C.O. Ezuma, identified major causes of accidents to tyre and advised drivers to check the expiring date of their vehicle tyres, adding that overloading vehicles were dangerous as it may lead to accident.

Also Mr. O.P. Okechukwu in his lecture on Penalty Points System, highlighted critical offenses that commercial drivers must be aware of, emphasizing the importance of adhering to road safety regulations to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
According to Mr. Okechukwu, the Penalty Points System assigns points and fines to drivers who commit specific offenses as it aims to deter drivers from committing offenses that can lead to accidents and fatalities.
