Allegations Against Ebube-Agu false, not After PDP but Hoodlums – Commissioner

Contrary to statements by the Ebonyi Federal lawmakers elected in the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Ebubeagu Security outfit operating in the state, the Gov. David Umahi led government has reaffirmed that Ebubeagu security outfit which is now backed by the law is not after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as alleged.
The Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution in the state, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha while briefing journalists in Abakaliki on Thursday 20th May, 2021 said that all allegations against Ebube-Agu were false.
Recall that The federal lawmakers from Ebonyi state had, in a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, stated among other allegations that Governor Umahi was after their lives, using the state branch of Ebube Agu.
Emegha rebuked politicians who according to him are opposing efforts of the state government in maintaining peace and orderliness reiterating that EbubeAgu has come to stay in Ebonyi and can never be destroyed.
He hammered that all allegation against Ebubeagu were false as their modus operandi has not changed from chasing after hoodlums that are terrorizing the people of the state as well as assisting the state police to protect lives and properties of citizens.
According to him “Some National Assembly members were making some utterances against the state government and then talking about Ebubeagu and in my usual way I don’t like joining issues with people especially in political power but it is necessary that I make some clarifications and then to let them know that Ebonyi belongs to all of us. We can jointly make it better.
“Ebubeagu has come to stay and it is well known to the security agencies. Ebubeagu men are on training now by security agencies. Does security agencies in Abuja not know that Ebubeagu is in existence, they wouldn’t have permitted security agencies here in Ebonyi to go ahead to train the Ebubeagu security outfit.
“Ebubeagu is not after any PDP member and can never be after the PDP members. What they are after are hoodlums that are terrorizing the state to make sure that the state is in peace the way it should.
“The purpose of calling this press briefing is to let the world know that all allegation levelled against Ebubeagu are falsehoods.
“Ebubeagu has come to stay and we will instruct Ebubeagu to start securing the facilities of those in opposition”.
“The full function of Ebubeagu started from the capital city where we recruited over one hundred and fifty personnel’s and we sent them first for training. Other ones that are coming from the local governments are one hundred per LGA. We allowed it in the hands of the traditional rulers and then possibly in the hands of some stakeholders in those areas to select. They have not even started work.
“Ebubeagu will be complimenting the works of the security agencies. Ebubeagu in various LGAs have not started work, we have not even gotten their list.
“The state House of Assembly has done that, the Governor announced it yesterday. I also have the copy of the law backing Ebubeagu in Ebonyi ” he stressed.
