Emegha Confirms plan To Contest Ebonyi APC Chairmanship Seat

The Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, has confirmed plans to contest for the Chairmanship position of the Party in the upcoming State congress.
Recall that Mr Emegha had fuelled speculations of his ambition to Contest for the state APC Chairmanship seat when he resigned his appointment as the State Commissioner for Internal Security on Monday 30th August 2021. J
In a chat with journalists on Saturday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, the consultant to the state government on security spoke on the sideline of the nationwide APC local government Congress, where he solicited the support of party members for him to clinch the position.
He commended the State Governor, David Umahi, for his position that members of the State Caretaker Committee of the Party who wished to contest any position in the upcoming State Congress was free to do so, saying, the Governor’s position had motivated him to pursue his ambition.
Emegha, however, said the chairmanship contest, for him, was not a do-or-die affair.
According to him, peradventure the entire party members say they have a better person to occupy the position, he will withdraw with all humility and due respect.
He said: “Yes, I have the intention to run for the position of the State APC chairman. But it’s not a do or die affair. Assuming the entire party members say they have a better person to occupy the position, I will withdraw with all humility and due respect.
“His Excellency’s position that members of the State Caretaker Committee of the Party who wished to contest any position in the upcoming State Congress is free to do so, is a motivational words, because, there is no body his father will send on an errand and he will refuse to obey.
“But that’s His Excellency’s own opinion. He is not the only member of the party; I will still solicit for the support of others.”
Emegha further assured that the local government congress was going to be transparent and peaceful.
“APC is a family that understands themselves. It is a family that knows that we are standing in for ourselves at a very point. So,we are going to demonstrate what we have all agreed peacefully today” he stated.
