Abakaliki Magistrate court has arraigned 18yr-old Raymond Erick, over alleged involvement in examination malpractices in the state.
Erick was arraigned on Tuesday, September9, before an Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court on two counts of examination malpractices and felony.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Bassey Okon, told the court that the suspect and others committed the offences on September 7, 2019, at the Holy Ghost Foundation Secondary School, Elias Odili Street, Abakaliki.

The suspects were said to have conspired among themselves and induced one Abara Onyekachi to deliver the General Mathematics 2 examination paper in the ongoing General Certificate of Education examination, to aid them provide answers to the questions even before the paper is shared in the exam Hall.

According to the prosecutor, the offences are punishable under sections 516 (A) (a) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 33 Vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi States, 2009, and 39 of the Miscellaneous Offences Law, Laws of Ebonyi State, 2018.

The charge sheet reads” that you Raymond Erick M’ and others now at large on or about the 7th day of September 2019 at Holy Ghost Foundation School, at the examination hall situated at No.1 Elias Odili Abakaliki did conspired among yourselves to commit felony to with Examination malpractice and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516(A) of the criminal code law, cap 33 vol. 1 laws of Ebonyi State 2009.”

Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate SN Ifeanyi Oyibe who noted that the offence was bailable granted the accused person bail in the sum of 50,000 naira in the like sum, submission of affidavit, two passports photograph, with a surety, while adjourning the case to September 14, 2019 for hearing.
