Samuel Omale, father to Victor Omale, a corps member serving in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, who was declared missing since November 9, 2021, has called on all relevant authorities to help him locate his son.

Samuel Omale, told The Voice that his son was living at the Catholic Lodge in the state capital and had stepped out briefly but never returned to the place with nobody knowing his whereabouts till date.

He said immediately after the incident, he had paid a visit to the NYSC coordinator to brief him over the matter and had reported at the police station and at the office of the Department of State Services.

According to him, efforts to track the telephone line of the missing man have not been successful.

He said ”My son has been missing since November 9, 2021. I stay in Lokoja and he stays in Ebonyi, Abakaliki headquarters and he resides at the Catholic Corpers Lodge.

”According to his fellow corps members, they were at the lodge that fateful day so at 6:00pm, he told them he was stepping out briefly, he didn’t go out with his wallet which contains his ID card and money, he just stepped out and since then, he hasn’t been found.

“He never told the corps members he’s living with where he was going to. I’m calling on relevant authorities to please do everything possible and help me locate my child.

“When it happened, I travelled to Abakaliki, I was there for about nine to 10 days. I met with the coordinator of the NYSC, we went to the police station, the DSS office.

“The DSS operatives told me they have tracked the number to no avail. Up until now, I didn’t hear anything. The police too said they did a private tracking but said they couldn’t actually find him.

“All the security units we contacted them, even those usually stationed at the check-points, we contacted them but there was no way out. I had to leave Abakaliki, I’m helpless, I don’t know what to do.

“My son left his wallets, money and bag so there was no way he could have travelled but he went out with his phone and his colleagues with whom he shares the accommodation waited till 7:30pm that day but when they didn’t see him, they got worried because he doesn’t just leave the house that way. They called him that day, the phone rang but the following day, the number was no longer available.

“I have been in touch with the coordinator but he said he hasn’t heard anything. Even the DSS said they haven’t got any useful information. They couldn’t give us the true picture of what they have done.”

A message from colleagues of the missing corps member reads, “Omale has been missing close to three months. Nothing has been heard of him up till now.

“He was serving in Ebonyi State before his disappearance. Omale Victor, a corp member was officially declared missing on November 9, 2021. He was last seen leaving Ebonyi State NACC House at Pressco behind Hope Inn Catholic Corpers Lodge, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State about 1:30pm to 2:30pm and never returned.

“He (Omale Victor) hails from Kogi State. He speaks English and Igala languages fluently. His state code is: EB/21B/1487. His PPA: Agency for Mass Literacy.
