Gov Umahi inaugurates 6-man interim management committee for Ebonyi Varsity

Governor Dave Umahi, has inaugurated a 6-man Interim Management Committee for the State- owned Ebonyi State University.

The Interim Committee is to run the institution for one year.

While performing the inauguration in Abakaliki, Governor Umahi explained that the move followed the expiration of the tenure of the present elected management, on the 7th of February, 2022.

The governor said the State government has requested the Senate to recommend persons considered suitable for the school’s reconstitute Council.

The immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Chigozie Ogbu, and two other members of the immediate past Management, retained their jobs in the Interim Committee.

In another development, Governor Umahi announced the sack of the entire management of the Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo, directing that a Committee to be set up to manage the affairs of the institution for a period of one month.

The Governor, about a fortnight ago, suspended the Provost and Bursar of the College of Education on allegations of misconduct during a staff recruitment exercise.
