How caretaker killed my daughter- Blind Father Recounts

*Says ‘She died protecting me’

*As angry youths raze suspect’s house

A middle aged man idetified as Mr. Aloh has narrated how he lost his daughter, Aloh Ogechi in the cold hands of death following an argument with his caretaker, Ejike Nwegbata.

 

 

The bereaved father, aged and blind told THE VOICE that his daughter Ogechi, a 20 year old secondary school student died from the injury inflicted on her by their neighbour, Ejike Nwegbata.

 

In an emotional laden voice, Aloh an indigene of Ezza North LGA who resides at Azuiyiokwu Enyimagu in Ebonyi State, said he has decided to leave the matter in God’s hands and pray for justice over the death of his late daughter.

The bereaved father said the journey to his daughter’s death started on Sunday, December 26, 2021 when the suspect had warned his children not to fetch water from his well nor play in his sand, on hearing the order giving by the caretaker, Mr.Aloh told one of his children to accompany him to the caretaker’s compound to inqury why such order was given.

Unfortunately, the visit didn’t go well, as it led to an argument. “It was at the cause of an argument , I was told that Ejike Nwegbata brought out his Cutlass to kill me but my daughter who was there rushed in to save me, and the Cutlass landed on her hand” he bemoaned.

” When he was asked to take her to the hospital and to give us the Cutlass he used on her, he refused. It was the councilor , Honourable Sunday Edigbo that took her to the hospital to be treated, where he spent 15,800 naira because we had no money and she was the bread winner of the family before she died.

 

“It was when the situation got worse that Ejike took her to specialist for another treatment and brought out the Cutlass after so much persuasion. Unfortunately she died three days after being taken to the hospital,the deep cut was infected due to inadequate treatment and that was what led to her death.” he said.

However, THE VOICE gathered that after Ogechi’s death , some aggrieved youths on Wednesday , January 5, stormed Ejike’s compound and burnt it to ashes. It was further disclosed that his wife fled with the children to an undisclosed location.

 

Speaking to THE VOICE, the councillor of Inyimagu community corroborated with Aloh’s account, he noted that the suspect has been arrested by the Ebonyi police command. He denied involvement of youths community in the destruction of the suspect’s house.
