The former secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim on Tuesday denied reports of boycotting the South East Peoples Democratic Party, PDP meeting held in Enugu State.

The Voice gathered that few media had reported that Sen Anyim Pius Anyim had  boycotted the PDP meeting which was held at the Enugu state  Government House and well attended by stakeholders including former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Abia Governor represented by his deputy, former Governor of Ebonyi, Sen. Dr Sam Egwu, Senators Obinna Ogba, Stella Odua. Others were Chief Chris Uba, Chief Ali Odefa who superintended the meeting as party’s zonal chairman.

The former Senate President, while speaking to newsmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state, expressed regret on why some mischief makers would be paddling lies.

According to him: “I was very early to the meeting, and was very conspicuous in the meeting. I participated in every stage of the meeting. I was even the last to leave the meeting  because I was interacting with a number of stakeholders including the Enugu state governor.

“And the meeting was not a caucus or leadership meeting. The meeting was purely for the Anambra state election.

“There is even no issues of leadership, principally because the natural zone is in Enugu state, and the governor was the host.

” And for effective coordination of Anambra election and other matters that he has been doing so wonderfully well. We said let us formally name him (Ugwuanyi) the leader of the zone. I was foremost in the whole arrangement, because it is his natural place/ position which he is doing very well. And so, there is no issue of contest. No issue of option or any other things.

“So, it is out of mere terrible desperation that anybody can lie to this extent. If anybody can lie to this extent that a meeting i officiated from the beginning to the end, participated prominently, that somebody will say that I was not in the meeting for any reason is pure desperation.  May God forgive the person. ”

The former SGF, also dismissed rumor of feud between him and the zonal caretaker committee chairman of PDP, Chief Ali Odefa.

He said “There is no feud between me and Ali, Ali even followed me home. We have been here together. So, how can there be any feud between us, for what?

“People can desperately lie like this? It is out of desperation. The meeting was just like an internal meeting to discuss Anambra state election. It was not a large meeting. It was a meeting of selected few” he added.
