…Calls for Tanko’s Resignation

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has given the apex court 24hrs to reverse Its January 15, 2020 judgement which sacked Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo state.
PDP southeast zonal chairman, Deacon Austin Umahi, gave the ultimatum during a state wide protest against the supreme court’s judgement.
Umahi retorted that if the judgement was not reversed that Nigeria will not remain the same.
He lamented that under the watch of the judiciary that democracy has been murdered, adding that judiciary is no longer the last hope of the common man but the lost hope of the masses.

“We are saying it very categorical that the judgement of the Supreme Court is pervert judgement and must be reversed immediately. For the oneness of this nation, for the founders of democracy, it should be reversed and let it reinstate the man that was elected by the Imolites, that is Emeka Ihedioha and not the man who was brought in through the back door.

“We are going to resist it with everything that we have, that judgment can’t stand .
“When judiciary is captured, we are finished in this country and from observations, you can see we have a compromised judiciary , there is no independence again, there is no rule of law in this country and where are we going as a country? This is more like banana republic”.

“If the judiciary didn’t reverse themselves, heavenly God will intervene and there is going to be calamity , we want to warn we are not foolish.

The protesters who were led by the PDP National vice chairman, southeast, Deacon Umahi, matched in their numbers from the party secretariat along Enugu Abakaliki Highway to the federal high court in the state to register their grievances.

Umahi urged the register of the federal high court to pass their message to the national, adding that it would be dangerous if the country failed to get it right for the sake of democracy.
He said it was not matter of PDP or APC but Nigeria as a country and democracy which he said few persons want to rubbish.

On his part, the state Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, called for the immediate resignation of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Tanko, following the sack of Imo State former Governor, Emeka Ihedioha by the Supreme Court.

Barrister Onyekachi Nwebonyi, discribed the ruling as unsounded, stating that the court of law does not admit evidence that comes from unlawful custody

“As a lawyer, and even the layman will agree with me that the court of law can’t admit evidence that come from unlawful custody. A situation where somebody will seat in the comfort of his bedroom and write a result to represent INEC result such result was not tendered by the independent Electoral commission, the question is this, who tendered those results at the supreme court ? , those witnesses that tendered the result are they the proper witnesses?.

“Under APC Lead federal government, the judiciary have compromised , the judiciary supposed to be the last hope of the common man but in Nigeria today, judiciary is the lost hope of the common man.

“I have never seen this type of baseless judgment, unfounded judgment, even year one university students will agree with me that it is a baseless judgment. I want to use this medium to call on the international community all well meaning Nigerians to resist this abomination” he stated.
