Ikwo Council Boss Tasks Media Practitioners on Promoting Council’s Unity

The Executive Chairman, Ikwo Local Government Area, Elder Steve Orogwu , on Wednesday called on Media Practitioners to promote the council’s unity , cultural heritage through objective reports.

Orogwu made this known while paying host to the new leadership of Association of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners (AIMP) at the Council Headquarters, Onuebonyi Echera, who were on familiarization visit.

He maintained that the media remains an instrument in the advancement of democracy and enjoined the members of the fourth estate of the realm, to work in collaboration with the government in fighting various challenges faced in the council. Stressing that the media should always stand by the truth at all times and promote the cultural heritage of Ikwo Noyo Clan.

Orogwu, said, “the role of the media in the contemporary society cannot be overemphasized neither can it be thrown overboard, because the media is the mouthpiece of the society, you have to tell those that have not heard, what is on board, and am happy that you have come from drivers establishment and organization to form this body.

“The media is always seen as unbiased set of people, in the real sense of it, they supposed to tell the public the truth even when others failed to tell the truth, and you as members of this Association, you should imbibe that attribute and ensure that you say the truth. Say the truth as it concerns Ikwo, say the truth as it concerns Ebonyi state and even the country at large.

“His Excellency, the Governor is doing very much and it wouldn’t be out of place if you come out as members of this Association and express your feelings on the way the Government is been run, if you are not satisfied in this area you say it and if you’re satisfied in the other area, be bold enough to say the truth”.

Elder Steve Orogwu Commended the pioneer president, Comrade Israel Ekene Mbam for the foresight in forming the Association and Congratulated the new Leadership urging them to consolidate on the achievements of the past Leadership and justify the confidence reposed on them by the members.

He enumerated some of his achievements in the last 18 months on the saddle, to include, rural electrification, provision of water, restoration of peace in some trouble spot in the area, youth empowerment, grading of roads among others.

Earlier, the National President of the Association Comrade Samuel Nwanchor, appreciated the Council Chairman, Elder Steve Orogwu for the warm reception accorded them. He said that the essence of the familiarization visit was to present the new Executives of the Association to the chairman and seek for closer tie on how to further publicize the activities and achievements of the Council.

Comrade Samuel Nwanchor Commended the chairman for his achievements in less than two years in office and urged him to continue with his Developmental strides in the council.

He called for support to the association in reviving the dialectical radio program “ODULENMA IKWO” among other requests.

Others who spoke during the visit include the pioneer President, Comrade Israel Ekene Mbam, an Ex -Officio, Dr Uchenna Nwanchor, lauded the open door policy of the Chairman urging him to continue in that direction.

The new Executives in the visit include the National president, Comrade Samuel Nwanchor, the Vice President, Chief Ewa Nworie and the Secretary General, Comrade Celestine Okeh. Others include; the Assistant Secretary, Comrade Jude Ogboji, the financial Secretary, Comrade Brenda Chidinma Imo-Eze and the Publicity Secretary, Comrade Chibueze Mkpurunchi. While the pioneer President, Comrade Israel Ekene Mbam, Dr Uchenna Nwanchor and Comrade Jacob Ogodo were equally at the visit.
