Ikwo Council Chairman Inaugurates Peace Committee

The chairman of Ikwo LGA, Elder Hon Stephen Orogwu, has inaugurated a high-powered committee of elders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and youths with a mandate to help restore peace to troubled parts of Ikwo LGA.

The inauguration took place this morning at the council headquarters at Ndufu Echara inaugurated an 18 man commitee with Rev. Ifeanyi Ogodo as Chairman and chief Oliver Eze as Secretary.

The commitee also had Okeagu Ogada, Chief Francis Igwe, Elder John Nte, Hon. Idah n. Idaho, Amb. Jonah Mkpuruka,Chief Simon Igwe, Albert Opefi, All traditional rulers in Ikwo, Elder Stephen Ezaka, Apostle Emma Mbam, Chief SN Ulebe, Israel Ekene Mbam among others.

The peace committee is to immediately visit Enyibichiri community which has been engulfed in the Enyigba/Enyibichiri land dispute and plead with the youths of Enyibichiri to lay down arms as government is already doing everything necessary to restore peace. They’re to also visit other troubled areas and preach peace.
