IWD: Ebonyi NAWOJ Celebrates Women’s Achievements, Advocates For Inclusion in Governance

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ebonyi State Chapter, has commemorate the International Women’s Day celebration with a call to action on women’s inclusion in governance.

In a message to mark the occasion, NAWOJ Ebonyi Chairperson, Nkechinyere Oginyi, emphasized the importance of accelerating action on women’s inclusion in governance, decision-making positions, and leadership roles.

Oginyi noted that despite the progress made by women in various fields, they still face numerous challenges, obstacles, and biases that limit their potential and marginalize their participation.

She called on women to break down the barriers that limit their potential, silence their voices, and marginalize their participation. Oginyi also urged women to support one another, uplift each other, and celebrate each other’s successes.

“We must accelerate our efforts to promote women’s inclusion in governance, decision-making positions, and leadership roles, We must break down the barriers that limit our potential and marginalize our participation.” Oginyi said.

Oginyi also emphasized the critical role that women play in shaping the narrative of their communities, states, and nation, noting that women’s participation is not only a matter of equality, but also a necessary condition for achieving sustainable development, peace, and prosperity.

According to her: “Today, we celebrate the women who have broken barriers in their various endeavors, women who have dared to challenge the status quo, who have pushed boundaries, and who have paved the way for others to follow, women who have made indelible marks in our society, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, resilience, and determination.” She stated

NAWOJ Ebonyi also called on the Ebonyi State Government to implement policies and programs that promote women’s inclusion in governance and decision-making positions.
