The council chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Hon. Ogbonnaya Chukwu Ude, has stated their strong suspicions that the two Chinese expatriates kidnapped in the area were abducted by herders.

Ude disclosed that the kidnappers came through the forest between Ishiagu and Lokpanta in Abia state.

He said the company, Green filed Nigeria Limited, located at Ihetutu, Ishiagu is very close to the Lokpanta forest.

Adding that the abductors invaded the company on Sunday March, 29, and took the Chinese Nationals away through the same Lokpanta forest.

He said they are yet to receive any call for ransom, but assured that security operatives are in place to ensure that the kidnappers are caught.

Ude noted that the council is working closely with the security agencies in Ivo to ensure the victims are released.

“They came from the bush between Ishiagu and Lokpanta in Abia State. They invaded the company very close to that bush and surrounded the foreigners and took two people away through the bush.

“So we are suspecting the herders because they dominate that Lokpanta forest.
