A 29-year-old man, David Ochasi, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing a tricycle worth N1m in the Bariga area of the state.

It was gathered that the yellow tricycle belonged to one Ayodele Osesan, who lived in the same area with the suspect.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Magaji Haruna, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 25, 2022, on Odunsanya Street, Bariga.

The defendant was arraigned on two counts of stealing.

The charges read in part, “That you, David Ochasi, and others now at large, on January 25, 2022, on Odunsanya Street, Bariga, in the Yaba Magisterial District, did steal one TVS King tricycle, with chassis number MD6M14PAXM4F04425 and engine number AK4FM4304886, yellow in colour and worth N1m, property of one Ayodele Osesan, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, O.Y. Adefope, admitted him to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety in like sum.

The charges read in part, “That you, David Ochasi, and others now at large, on January 25, 2022, on Odunsanya Street, Bariga, in the Yaba Magisterial District, did steal one TVS King tricycle, with chassis number MD6M14PAXM4F04425 and engine number AK4FM4304886, yellow in colour and worth N1m, property of one Ayodele Osesan, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, O.Y. Adefope, admitted him to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned till February 2, 2023, for trial.
