NNL Fines Abakaliki FC N1M

By Bassey Ubong

Abakaliki FC has been fined one million Naira by the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The football club was fined N500,000 for improper interference by their chairman and officials in the technical areas, as well as an additional N500,000 for allowing an unauthorized individual to wear their official jersey and enter the technical area.

As at the time of filing this report, it has not been ascertained if both teams have paid the fine, however both teams have 48 hours to appeal the decisions.

Recall that the Nigeria National League (NNL) rejected Rovers of Calabar’s petition, which sought a three-point and three-goal victory against Abakaliki FC over allegations of fielding an unregistered player, Johnson Umeh, in their matchday five clash at the Pa-Oruta Ngele Stadium in Abakaliki.

The NNL found no evidence to substantiate the claim, as Umeh did not participate in the match and was not listed in the league’s registration portal.
