Gov. Umahi

By Ewa Nworie

A veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Pete Edochie, has described governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state, as a wonder working governor in view of his giant strides in infrastructural development of the state.

Pete Edochie, who spoke in Abakaliki, while inspecting some projects executed by governor David Umahi, called on other governors in the country to emulate governor him.

Projects inspected by Edochie and his team of actors, include Ecumenical Centre and Margret Umahi International market.

At each of these gigantic projects sites executed by governor Umahi, Edochie who was amazed at the gigantic edifice he saw, was forced to rhetorically asked, does Umahi print his own money? Does other governors in Nigeria visit Ebonyi state?

These questions, he said, were necessary in view of the fact that governor Umahi, according to record available, pays salaries of civil servants regularly unlike some other governors who owe salaries of workers and yet have nothing to show in terms of Infrastructural and Human Capital developments in their states.

His words,”I don’t know where to borrow words to describe governor Umahi, but, let me ask, does other governors in Nigeria, visit Ebonyi state?

“The reason why I asked such questions is, for a governor to execute such gigantic projects and keep commitment in regular payment of workers salaries, is quite unprecedented. How does he do it? I Still ask, does Umahi print his own money?

“Well, he is a pastor, he can husband the resources very well.
By the time he finishes his second tenure, any body coming after him will just relax, because, he has done every thing”.

The Nollywood actors who were in Abakaliki, to see things for themselves, later honoured governor David Umahi, with an award of the Best Performing governor in Nigeria.

The Nollywood Actors were conducted round the projects sites by the Special Assistant to the Governor on media, Hon Francis Nweze.
