Following the sack of the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, his Deputy, Barr Kelechi Igwe, and members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly by a federal High Court led by Justice Inyang Ekwo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has  reiterated that it will always protect Umahi, one of the best Governors in Nigeria.

The group described the sack as a miscarriage of justice and a black market judgment and urged Umahi to be strong enough to continue to stir the ship of the State in these turbulent moments and challenges.

Chidi-Ibeh led Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, stated this in a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.

Ohaneze maintained that the sack was aimed at creating havoc and chaos in Ebonyi State and warned that any attempt to take over the reins of power in State through the back door will trigger unprecedented chain of reaction.

Stating: “We are alarmed at how misery and desperation could navigate some politicians to offer themselves as willing tools to enemies of Ndigbo, just to destabilize the Ebonyi state and set the state on fire. This court judgment will not see the light of day”.

“We call on the people of Ebonyi state to calm down and be law-abiding citizens as the Ebonyi state government will surely appeal the decision of the Abuja High Court. This is the beauty of democracy, certainly the court has decided what is not acceptable for Ndigbo, definitely it will be interesting to see how the judgment will go in the Appeal and Supreme Courts.

“We stand with the government and people of Ebonyi State, especially the Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum and APC presidential hopeful, Engr. David Umahi. Ndigbo will always protect one of the best Governors in Nigeria and urge him to be strong to stir the ship of the State in these turbulent moments and challenges
