Over two thousand members of the All Progressive Congress APC on Sunday, September 8, collapsed into People’s Democratic party in Okposi Umuogharu, Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi state.

They made an open declaration to join the party during a grand reception of Mr. Mgbada Okechukwu, who was recently appointed as member Secondary Education Board (SEB), by the Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Nweze Umahi.

The reception took place at Uwaoma Primary School Okposi Umuogharu, and was graced by stakeholders of the local government, including member representing Ezza North- East in the state assembly, Hon. Barr. Friday Uhuo.

Uhuo in his remarks, stated that Umahi gave them road, airport, power station and pulverization plant therefore they will continue to support his government.

In his address, Mr. Mgbada thanked the Governor for his appointment as member of SEB and assured that the policies of the government will henceforth be redirected to those at the grassroot, even as he welcomed members of APC who defected to PDP during the event.

In his words: “Today we are thanking the Governor for my appointment. The power of governance is the ability to reach to the grassroot. Today am at the grassroot with my people and am promising that the policies of the government will be redirected to the people.

“Okposi has been collapsed into one party today and it is a great thing, we will continue to be united and we will continue to meet from time to time”.
On her part, a senior citizen of the community, Mrs. Ngozi Oke, in her motherly advice, enjoined Mr.

Mgbada to assist in reducing unemployment in Ezza North local government area.
She charged him not allow the appointment to become a curse to the community and the local government in general by planting seed of discord among them.

Mrs. Oke further urged him to work with others and reunite the people. “Don’t bring in divide and rule policy, always carry your people along and ensure that Okposi people are united. As you do that God will bless you”. She noted

Mr. Friday Mgbabor, on behalf of the defectors, said with the appointment of Mr. Mgbada who is a son of the soil have been given them an enabling environment to join the party. He called on others who are still in opposition parties in the state to join them so as to build the community.

Stating he has been in the opposition for over eighteen years and there is need for them to come together.
The defectors were welcomed by the Peoples Democratic Party ward Chairman, Mr. Edeh Aloh.
