Ebonyi State Government has flagged off the construction of 150meters road leading to Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ebonyi Province 2, Redemption Avenue, opposite Ebonyi Broadcasting Cooperation, (EBBC) Nkaliki Road.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure Maintenance, Hon. Ali Odefa, flagged off the construction on August 17, 2019.

Odefa during the event noted that the cost of the project is about N14.5 million and has been fully made available by the government.
He said there will be drains on both sides of the road, adding there will also be solar power street light to light up the area.

The road according to the government is expected to take additional 21 days to be fully completed.

“The road is 6 meter by 6 inches concrete road. The road was very bad and the way they built houses around this area made it prone to flooding. At a point in the rainy season, it was no longer passable mostly the part very close to the church. But we have filled all these places and we are also introducing culverts in some portions of the road so that there will be easy flow of water” he noted.

Speaking during the flag off, the pastor in charge of the church, Pastor ChukwuAmariOmaka, said the road was in a very pitiable state, mostly during the rainy season.

He said the state of the 150 meters road discouraged members of the church from attending the church, stressing that members of the community were also lamenting over the dilapidated state of the road.

“But today, we can see that things are changing. The action governor has come to see that our state is changed for the better. Translating what he has been doing in the entire state of Ebonyi to this particular road. So we are very grateful to him for coming to flag off the road, and from what we have heard, it’s not just going to be another road, it’s going to be a road that will last for at least 90 years.

That is what we are told and we are trusting in God because our Governor promises and does what he says he will do. At the end of the day it shall come to pass that this road will be made concrete” he state.

Omaka also assured the Governor that the church will keep praying for him and that God will take him to places he never imagined in life.

Mr. Ezekiel Opoke, one of the landlords in the area praised Governor Umahi for remembering the road after years of suffering.

He however, appealed to government to extend this gesture to other roads in the area that are also in bad shape, so that all of them will rejoice together.

“All the landlords here and tenants are very happy for the flag off of this road, and we say may God continue to bless him”, he added.

Mrs. Mary Odii, a landlady, maintained that her happiness knows no bounds, adding that they have been suffering in that area because of the poor state of the road.

“We are all happy for what the Governor is doing here today”, she noted.
