…Gives Scholarships, Empowers Constituents

It was a happy celebration as Ivo Philanthropist, Dr. Gideon Chidiebere Osi, (GOC) on Friday, December 27, gave scholarships to 35 persons both indigenous and non indigenous of Ivo, in his Ishiagu hometown Ebonyi state.

The event which was to mark his 40th birthday anniversary was also used to deliver free medical services to over 800 persons across the constituency.

The occasion also saw the distribution of 25 sets of Hair driers, 20 sets of Grating Machine, 15 sets of generator set, 45 sets of sewing machines and bags of rice as well as wrappers.

Speaking at the event, the Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Sen. Obinna Ogba, congratulated the celebrant and also appreciated his good gesture of empowering his constituents and elevating them from poverty.

Senator Ogba appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items given to them by using it to lift themselves and others from poverty.

“I appeal to you to make judicious use of the items given to you and you should know that to whom much is given much is expected. You should live up to expectation by doing the right thing.

“Those who have been offered scholarship should know that they are not going there to belong to secret cults, smoke India hemp or indulge in illicit acts, they should study hard.
“All the things that have been given to the beneficiaries are something that if they make use of it properly, it is going to change their lives within a short time.

” I appreciate my friend Gideon for doing this. This is more than a constituency project. It takes courage and good heart to do what he has done,” he stated

Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Chidi Ezedigwe, who charged the beneficiaries to use the items distributed to better their lives as intended by their benefactor, disclosed that he was happy that the celebrant was replicating what he does in other places in his home town.

Dr. Gideon Osi on his part, disclosed that it was not because he is wealthy that has motivated him to support the needy, but because he has the desire to help the poor, knowing that he came from a very poor background.

In his words: ” I came from the poorest of families in my community. We had no good house but now i help others to build houses. I couldn’t pay school fees during my days in school, but now, am happy I can now place people on scholarship and help alleviate poverty in my constituency.

“It is not because i have so much money but I have the desire to help the downtrodden. I understand their plights. My mom is a widow and I know how she suffered to cloth us and see us go to school, I will help the widows.”

He said that apart from the free medical services offered to the people at the occasion, he was going to see to the successful operation of about 100 persons affected with cataract.

He charged the beneficiaries of his empowerment program to use the items distributed to lift themselves and families out of poverty.

The mother of the celebrant, Mrs Oyidiya Osi, who stole the attention of guests at the event, expressed joy seeing those being assisted by her son.

Speaking with one of the beneficiaries of the free medical care, Mr. Ajah Obinna, from Amaeze-Amata Ishiagu, he expressed his profound gratitude and prayed that God will continue to keep and bless their benefactor.

Also speaking with a cross section of the beneficiaries of various items, they thanked their benefactor and promised to use it to empower others.

The occasion was graced by dignitaries from all parts of the country, traditional rulers and academics who discribed the celebrant as a man of the people and prayed God to continue to keep him and bless the works of his hand.
