Ebonyi state Governor, David Umahi, has suspended the State and local government Auditor Generals indefinitely.
The duo, Mr. Innocent Nweda, State Auditor General and George Ukpai, local government Auditor were handed down their suspension letters on Monday.
Secretary to Ebonyi state government, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, in a release made available to journalists in Abakaliki, said the suspension was to take effect immediately.
Umahi in the release said the auditor generals failed to perform their duties effectively.

He accused them of failure to prepare and produce the annual audited accounts of the State and Local governments.

Umahi further directed that Mr Nweda hand over to the next most senior officer in rank.

He ordered one Dr U. A. Udu to take over as Acting Auditor General for local government until further notice.

“All handover and takeover should be concluded before the close of work on Monday 13 July 2020”, according to the statement. Ends
