A Presidential Aspirant of the Social Democratic Party, Barrister Adewole Adebayo has called on the party delegates to elect a leader who would render selfless service in rescuing the country.
Prince Adewole made this known on Thursday, in Abakaliki to seek support of the delegates ahead of the party’s Presidential Primary.
Represented by one of his campaign cordinator , Hon. Silas , Prince Adewole decried the failure of successive governments to entrench justice and fairness in the administration of public resources attributing it as the major predicament of Nigeria.
Besides, the presidential hopeful regretted that, like never before, the present administration has neglected their primary responsibility; of providing basic amenities such as good roads ,jobs for graduates , thus allowing the citizens to wallow in abject poverty.
The Ondo born legal practitioner declared that Nigerians have found themselves in the present economic quagmire, insecurity and religion and tribal sentiments, stating that if nothing is done to rescue the country it could affect the unity of the country.
Adebayo, told the Ebonyi State Delegates that his decision to run for the presidential seat, was borne out of conviction that Nigeria can still regain her enviable days of the founding fathers, if properly managed.
Stating ” they came in 2015 and say change , they now change us to poverty , we are still managing, they took the management from us and gave us poverty , that we can not find our bearing . It is in our hands if we don’t want to continue with this kind of leadership. ” He stated.
He likened the party to Nehemiah in the Bible, stating that God used Nehemiah who was a slave to restore the lost Glory of Isreal by building the country back and such could be possible if people vote wisely by not allowing their selfish interest to influence their choice of leader .
” The situation we find ourselves in Nigeria requires our effort to rescue Nigeria ,there have been deceiving us with so many things, there is none of us that is not affected by this misadministration of Nigeria since 1999. Instead of them moving us forward rather they are taking us backwards. It is high time we say enough is enough”.
Speaking the SDP chairman, appreciated the presidential hopeful , Prince Adewole for his visit to the State, he maintained that none of the delegates are for sale.
Adding “I will walk away from any aspirant who looks down on Ebonyi, nobody here is for sale, we are going with you, your principal”.
“My great members has said it all, Ebonyi looks innocent but we are not innocent , if you bring a pack of trouble to us, we will give you a bucket to go back.
“We are very loyal. Go and check the history of Nigerian states, Ebonyi people are very submissive, we don’t look for trouble. Sir , I want you to go home with this, by His grace Ebonyi will do the needful” he maintained.
Meanwhile , the party also held its’ primaries for house of Representatives.
Among those who emerged the party canidate for the 2023 general election at includet time of filing this report , Hon Agbo Henry for Ebonyi/ Ohaukwu federal constituency, Hon. Egbarada Monday for Izzi/ Abakaliki Federal constituency, Hon. Nweke Canice for Ezza/ Ikwo federal constituency, and Hon. Egwu Raymond for Afikpo North/ Afikpo South Federal constituency.
