Ebonyi state police command has confirmed the death of a widow and her married lover in an uncompleted building at Umuezeoka Umueze community, Ezza Effium in Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state.
The deceased, Ifeanyi Nwokwu Ucha was 44yrs, while Nkechi Ezeaka was 33yrs. According to the state police public relations officer, DSP Loveth Odah, the incident happened Monday, at about 9pm.
She said the assassins were yet to be identified at the time of filing this report.
Odah disclosed that the corpses were found in the room with blood gushing out of there mouths and noses.
According to sources from the community, Nkechi who has been a widow for close to 20, was being admired by two men in the same community and both were married.
She seemed to had preferred Ifeanyi because he was more comfortable financially, than the other admirer.
That fateful Monday night, they had left Ifeanyi’s old house to his uncompleted building and it was learnt that he had promised to give Nkechi a personal room once the building was completed.
It was also gathered that it was that same room which Nkechi was supposed to occupy that they had gone to and also laid on the same bed when their assassins struck.
Police said there were no bruises found on their bodies except for the blood gushing out from their mouths and noses.
The development made police to suspect that it’s either they were strangled or poisoned to death.
We learnt that it was through the intervention of neighbors who discovered that the duo were missing and decided to look for them, that their lifeless bodies were discover in the uncompleted building.
However, some from the community were largely suspecting Ifeanyi’s rival of being behind the heinous act, although police said investigation into the matter was on and that someone has been arrested in connection with the crime
Odah said: “Yes, there was a report that two persons, a married man and a widow was found inside a room in Umuezeoka Umueze Ezza Effium community in Ohaukwu local government area.
“The Ohaukwu DPO visited the scene and corps deposited in Izziamgbo general hospital mortuary.
” One man have been arrested who had alive threatening land case with the deceased Ifeanyi . The case has been transferred to state CID for investigation. It happened around 9 p.m on 13th January and is on, very soon we will unravel those behind the killing.
Meanwhile, the coordinator, Effium Development Centre Hon. Sunday Agbo, whom the ugly incident took place in his DC, expressed sympathy over the death of the widow leaving her children behind.
He noted that some persons have been arrested, adding that he was optimistic that the police would do the needful as regards to arresting the suspects.
“The incident that led to the death of Ifeanyi Nwokwu and Nkechi Ucha is quite unfortunate. I sympathize with the families over their untimely death from such mysterious circumstance.
“I also want to urge the people not to take laws into their hands as security agents have waded into the matter, even as investigation is on to gear to unravel the circumstances that led to their death.
