APC should be prepared to tolerate Umahi’s excesses – Ex-Commissioner
A former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in Ebonyi State, Egwu Chima, has advised the APC to be ready to deal with the excesses of the state Governor, Dave Umahi.
Reports has it that Governor Umahi defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC on Tuesday. According to the governor, he decamped to the APC due to the injustice meted out to the Southeast by the PDP.
Umahi also disclosed that he left the PDP because the party has failed to zone the presidential position to the Southeast since 1998. He, however, refuted claims that he has a deal with the APC that the party will give the southeast the presidential ticket in 2023.
But speaking at a media briefing in Abakiliki, on Wednesday, Chima noted that the APC must be ready to tolerate the dictatorial tendency of the governor. He also accused the governor of nepotism and treachery, which he said Umahi would bring into APC.
The party chieftain disclosed that the defection of Umahi to APC would bring relentless sponsorship of factionalization of the party and leads to the disintegration of the party in Ebonyi.
Chima, however, noted that the action of the governor to defect to APC is personal and selfish, saying that the excuse given by the governor is not true and lacks wisdom
