Ebonyi State Government has vowed to put on every necessary requirements to ensure that the Ebonyi State Library has the capacity to compete with its contemporaries across the globe.

This was made known to THE VOICE on Monday by the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Amari Omaka when he hosted the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Library, Barr. Nwoga Puis.

Prof. Amari who emphasized that education is incomplete without the Library, pointed out that one of the main focus of the incumbent administration was to restore education to its previous glory and to ensure that education in the State meet up with the international standard .

He revealed that plans are on top gear by the State government to revamp Tertiary Institutions in the State.

“There is no way we can attain international standard in our Tertiary institutions without the Library. Gone are the days when it was only hard copy people read.

“Apart from the physical facilities that needs to be restored , we need to also equip the Library to an international standard to ensure that students can access books of all standard, journals and materials to help them prepare adequately and restore Ebonyi to its previous Glory.”

Adding “this will also be replicated in all the Libraries in the Tertiary institutions across the State from the State University to the Polythenic and from the Polythenic to the College of Education at Ikwo to the school of technology to the school of Nursing at Afikpo.”

He revealed that the Ministry is ready to partner with the Library, and other organizations to ensure that the vision of the administration would be realised.

Earlier, the SSA to the Governor on Library, Barr. Nwoga Puis disclosed that his visit to the commissioner on Tertiary Education is purposely to work in collaboration with the Ministry of Tertiary Education to ensure that the State Library is revitalize for the good of the people.
