King David Varsity of Medical Sciences begins Admission

Professor Jesse Uneke, Vice-Chancellor, King David University of Medical Science, Uburu, has said that admission into the institution for undergraduate programmes has commenced.

The vice Chancellor said the National University Commission (NUC) approved 17 programmes to kick start academic activities in the institution which is located at Uburu, Ohaozara local Government area of Ebonyi state.

Uneke, during a press conference in Uburu on Wednesday, 3rd November, 2021 said that the 17 programs and 20 departments were approved during the resource Verification by the National Universities Commission in October.

He listed some of the programmes to include Medicine and Surgery, Physiotherapy among others.

The vice Chancellor said the university is built to compete with the best schools around the world had four student hostels of 68 rooms each.

According to him, “king David University is the first university of Medical Sciences in the southeast and was formally recognized by the NUC on the 7th of July 2021.

“The Resource verification was given three weeks ago, and 20 departments presented were all approved and the 17 programs it is running also approved.

” we have started admission last week and this week the admission processes are actively going on.

“Programs approved are medicine and surgery, pharmacy, nursing Sciences, medical laboratory Sciences, physiotherapy, biomedical, and industrial physics, industrial chemistry, biology, bio-technology, dentistry, microbiology and parasitology, public health and human nutrition and dietetics.

“The school is targeting December for its first matriculation.

“We have built an e-library and as well as laboratory. 95 per cent of our lecturers is going to be PhD holders because our focus is to set the standard for qualitative learning.

“We have concluded plan to create students access to e-book and there are multimedia interactive facilities installed in all classes,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
