The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Barr Sunday Nwankwo has said that the security of lives and properties of the citizenry of the local government area is the top priority of its administration.

In a chat with Ikwo Media Practitioners in his office at Onebonyi Echara, the council headquarters, the Chairman addressed the rumour being peddled around on social media by mischief makers that the security alarm he raised was targeted at a political party.

He made it clear that the security warning was based on intelligence report and that as a responsive government, no stone would be left unturned to nip in the bud such threat.

The Ikwo Council Chairman who commended the leadership and members of the Association for their pragmatic approach to issues that affect the Council, said the partnership that exists between his administration and the Association must be strengthened for even development of the Council.

Mr. Nwankwo who described journalists as key partners in democracy, said his style of leadership is to carry everyone along and ensure that views are freely expressed so as to secure wider engagement and buy-in of the citizens.

He promised to always engage the Association in a media chat, stating that this will enable them keep the public abreast of the programmes of his administration for more participation.

The National President of the Association of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners, Comrade Samuel Nwanchor said the achievements of the Chairman can easily be traced to the all-inclusive governance style he adopted in making development seamless and returning Ikwo to its prominent status as the home of Peace and unity.

Comrade Nwanchor who said the visit was to familiarize with the Council Chairman and to thank him for taking over the sponsorship of the Association’s dialectical radio programme “ODULENMA IKWO” said they are ever ready to partner and support Mr. Nwankwo in his quest to bequeath great legacy to the Council.

The Vice President of the Association of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners, Mr. Ewah Nworie and a member of the Association, Mr. Jacob Ogodo lauded the Council Chairman for his warm sentiment and approach to governance which they said have ushered in a new era of peace and development in the area.
