UMAHI’S DEFECTION: Ebonyi APC Youths Threaten Defection To PDP

As Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State conludes plan to defect to the All Progressive Congress, APC, Youths of the Ebonyi State Chapter of the party has threatened to dump the it for PDP in the event of the governor defecting to APC.
In a statement in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the youths warned the governor never to think of coming into the APC pointing out that his entrance into the party will while down the already popularity the party was already enjoying in the state.
The statement which was signed by Comrades Nworie Ezekiel, Igwe Alfred, Ogbaga Kingsley, Idam Oko Ewa and 50 others further disclosed plans by the youths to stage a peaceful protest against what they described as “the governor’s calculated attempt to infect the party with bad omen”
The statement advised members and elders of the APC to look beyond the immediate and review the request of the governor “in order not to kill the good image of our great party”.
The statement reads in part, ” We have noted with dismay, the plans by the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi to join our party, APC
” We state categorically that, despite the fact that politics is a game of number, we are not ready to mortgage our hard earned popularity in Ebonyi State as a party on the alter of selfish interest.
” Governor Umahi is not a good omen to any political group because of his draconian leadership style which have left the state in a shadow of itself.
” Anybody outside this state will not understand the level of poverty and sufferings in this state caused by the governor’s greedy and selfish leadership module.
We therefore warn that we will not and cannot tolerate his presence in our party, rather we may be left with no option than to move in our numbers to the PDP.
” The truth is that the governor’s exit from PDP will return PDP back as the toast of Ebonyi People”.
It could be recalled that the media have been awash on the governor’s planned defection to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The governor who had held several meetings in and outside the state was said to have perfected plans to dump the PDP for APC.
Sources close to Ebonyi Government House told The Voice that the governor may make his defection public any moment from now.
It is reported that the governor had already made his intentions known to the PDP hierarchy in Abuja recently.
However, it is gathered that majority of the members of the House of Assembly in the state are not disposed to joining the governor to his new party.
It was further learnt that members of the National Assembly from the state have also made their intentions of remaining in PDP known to the governor except few.
The governor was quoted as citing the refusal of PDP to zone the presidency slot to South East geo political zone for the 2023 presidential election as his major reason for leaving the party.
