Senator-elect, Barr. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi representing Ebonyi North senatorial zone, has ordered the inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to tender his resignation letter if he can’t stop extortion.

The senator-elect made this known on Sunday in Abakaliki while speaking to the press on the issues that would be addressed in the 10th National Assembly.

Nwebonyi who lamented on the corrupt practices by some officers of the Police force disclosed that he has thousands of video evidence against the evil practices of the Nigerian Police Force.

He issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to end police extortion or resign from office.

Nwaebonyi lamented that corruption and extortion has become the order of the day for the uniform men across the country. He vowed that the 10th National Assembly will tackle the menace.

He said: “I have observed with dismay the activities of policemen all over Nigeria. These are some of the issues the 10th National Assembly will address. This nonsense can’t continue. Nigeria is not a Banana republic. This is a federation, and we have the rule of law.

“If the government would engage policemen to collect taxes on the road, it should be formalised. We can’t continue to keep quiet; it shouldn’t continue,” he said.
