In a bid to maintain equity and fairness, Rt.Hon. Moses Odunwa on Tuesday emerged the Speaker of the 7th State House of Assembly.

Odunwa, a second time lawmaker and member representing Ikwo South Constituency was elected after he was nominated by the house.

Chinedu Onah, a lawmaker representing  Ohaukwu South constituency, was similarly elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

Other elected Lawmakers include; Member representing Afikpo North West, Hon Kingsley Ikoro as leader, Hon Nkemka Okoro, member representing Afikpo South West as  Chief Whip, Hon Joseph Ununu as deputy leader and member representing Ishielu South, Hon Chukwu Arinze Lucas as deputy Chief whip.

The inaugural sitting of the 7th Assembly was presided over by the Clerk of the House and was attended by the Governor, the former speaker of the assembly , Rt.Hon.Francis Ogbonaya Nwifuru.

Addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration,  Odunwa pledged to spare no effort at ensuring that he delivers effective representation to the people. He vowed to sustain the peaceful legacy of his predecessor, Rt.Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

He emphasized the role of legislature and noted that his administration would synergize with the executive to ensure policies that promote peace and development of the state are initiated.

The Speaker also promised to maintain mutual relationship with the media, urged lawmakers to engage in constructive criticism.
